#1 · Feb 28, 2021 I have a 2015 Mazda 3 Hatch. I've seen people upgrading their screen with the 2017-2018 screen but I also want to do have apple car play. So my question is if i were to get the screen upgrade, upgraded usb module that supports the carplay and update my firmware to the latest Verizon. would that be enough to make carplay work?

Both USB ports would work with Apple Carplay. And Sync 3 is the system for Ford vehicles. I would recommend to enable Bluetooth and remove any vehicles under the car play setting (General > Carplay) in your IPhone. Then try again. It could also be a faulty cable. Try to locate a different OEM USB A to lighting cable.
With after market there’s a risk it won’t work, but you could always return it depending on where you buy it from. I have the same question. The hub unit from my local Mazda dealer costs 130 USD + tax (converted from my currency) but those on AliExpress costs only 50 USD with very good reviews and lots of orders.

Hello! A while back I remember hearing that Mazda USA would be supporting the optional addition of Apple CarPlay and Android auto to 2014 and newer Mazdas. I was initially not too interested in CarPlay for my 2016 IGT 3 but after helping my mom purchase a new CX-30 with CarPlay, I became fond of the google maps and Spotify connectivity options.

I was looking through the TSBs out for Mazda and found this. It looks like in NA, CX-50s are the only vehicles for which OTA updates are currently being released. But the "other models will follow" appears to imply that they will eventually start issuing OTA updates to Mazda3 and CX-30 as well.
