As there are no fault codes I can only think it as non-electrical When I run the car with a light right foot it runs fine but as soon as I add power it comes up restricted performance it’s the same when starting the car if I go through the procedure of turning the ignition key on and off two or three times as if priming the filter after

P0171 & P0174 Restricted Performance (Resolved) I got the dreaded Restricted Performance message on the way back from the Tan Hill meet. Car goes into limp mode and wont go past 3k rpm. I few things I noticed, the earth behind the headlight sheered off when I touched it, so this was renewed.

Restricted performance and running rough at 3000 RPM. I have an OBDII code reader and found that the problem was in the air mass flow sensor, which is just after the air filter. I pulled this out and found it was dirty and had butterfly wings in it. Restricted Performance appears on the display - performance drops off. If I stop the car, switch off and then on again the fault clears but will come back after a few hundred yards. If I let it cool for few hours then I get another 15 miles or so. Sometimes I can go 100 miles without the fault

I have purchased a 54 reg S-type diesel manual , with lots of faults I am working through . The main problem is after running for 15 seconds at idle is goes into restricted performance and the amber light comes on and it won't rev over 2750 revs . It has been standing for a while before I bought it and was very nearly out of diesel .

The car would run ok but then drop into Restricted Performance once it began to cruise on a light throttle. The fault code showed the offside (ie:driver's side) EGR valve faulty. It cost me £288 to get it replaced at an Indy, more expensive because this side is an absolute swine to get to. The passenger side EGR valve is easier to replace. 6nRCuyS.
