A likely cause is the link between the PCM (engine computer) and the IC. This is vital for the PATS (immobiliser system). The PATS led should give a code, that will help identify the cause. Typical flash code: The red immobilsor light will flash rapidly for 1 minute then it will emit a code. Example - 1 flash -PAUSE - 6 flashes = flash code 16. The code is usually repeated about 10 times and will signify a two number code i.e.-. Flash flash pause flash would be code 2,1. These codes assist in diagnosing immobiliser faults. If the light flashes rapidly with a long amount of flashes it usually means the key is not recognised at all. From Fordwiki-.

Immobilizer Problems, Symptoms #12: Difficulty in Key Insertion or Removal. If inserting or removing the key from the ignition becomes increasingly difficult, it might be more than just a worn-out key or ignition. Sometimes, a faulty immobilizer system may prevent the key from smoothly turning or getting ejected.

immobiliser. I am a new member to this forum and I am hoping someone can help me. I picked up my car from a Ford Dealer (Days) Thursday afternoon; it is a Ford B-Max 1600cc powershift auto. We are initially very pleased with it, however, yesterday, I cleaned it and because I dropped a coin and it rolled under the car, too far for me to reach.
About the C-Max. Originally known as the Ford Focus C-Max, this compact multipurpose vehicle was manufactured between 2003 – 2019. Multiple variations were brought out after its initial success, notably the Grand C-Max with an extended wheelbase. In Northern America the C-Max was actually Ford's first hybrid-only offering.
Cost you less than £20 for the adapter. Possibly just a blown fuse due to the flat battery. Battery test. Do the test upto the point where it needs the engine running. Check voltage after 10 minutes of having all the headlights etc on. Check with all the lights on, dont turn them off until after the voltage check.

Unless you want to dismantle quite a lot of the car to find the fault location, it sound like a garage or auto-electrician job, but the pdf might give them a clue where to start. (NOTE: The pdf is actually for Mondeo & S-Max/Galaxy, so the photos will be wrong, but the basic problem may be the same for your Focus).

it needs to have a matching program for the ecm and the immobiliser. A new key cut to the existing barrel/lock and programmed to the vehicle ecm will solve the problem. Even if you get a new barrel and key you will still have to have it reprogrammed to the ecm and immobiliser system. Dec 12, 2014 • 2006 Ford Focus. 0 helpful.
